We are LANK Technology - Leo Aschberger and Nikolaus Kampelmühler - two students from Upper Austria with a shared passion for the mountains and high-performance materials. As master’s students in Lightweight Design and Composite Materials, we combine technical expertise with years of athletic experience: Niko as a former professional sailor, Leo as an avid triathlete for eight years.

Through our sports, we’ve gained valuable experience using carbon fiber products ourselves - from racing equipment to performance gear - which shapes our understanding of what makes lightweight tools truly reliable.

Countless days in the Alps - backcountry skiing in winter and hiking in summer- have inspired us to design gear that meets the demands of real-world adventure.

Our story began four years ago with two homemade carbon phone cases. In 2023, we started developing our first carbon fiber ice axe as a university project. After building five prototypes and testing them on a five-day ski tour in February 2024, we knew we wanted to go further.

Today, we are working on our next product: a handmade carbon avalanche shovel crafted in Austria. By focusing on smart design and efficient production, we aim to make innovative, lightweight gear more accessible to passionate mountaineers.
